The Treasure Box represents the finest in workmanship and beauty.

The beauty of the box stems from the natural appearance of the woods, from the striking contrasts between the woods, the unusual joinery and the wonderful oil and carnauba wax finish.  This is truly a beautiful and striking box.  It may be of interest to know this box won a blue ribbon, a special award trophy and a cash prize in a recent highly reqarded Kentucky art show

The sides of the top are joined with sliding dovetails.  The center of the top is constructed of individual parts of walnut and maple. The dovetails in this box are most unusual.  The dovetail is lined with another dovetail of contrasting wood, approximately 1/16" wide. In addition, each double dovetail is found on adjoining sides of the corner of the box.  The lid moves smoothly on wood hinges.  The handle is made with laminations.  The trim on the bottom elevates the box in a regal fashion.  There is a liftout tray and divider in the bottom of the box.  Both are lined with velvet.  Plastic pads are applied to the bottom to protect surfaces and to prevent unwanted movement.

As with all my boxes, the wood is solid.  The walnut is grown in Kentucky.  The maple is quilted maple, which offers the richest and most beautiful color of all the permutations of maple.  The finish is three coats of Danish oil, which is hand applied and then allowed to dry for at least a week.  Then three coats of carnauba wax are hand applied for a silken feel and appearance.
